We agree with the underlying analysis: the model of hyper-production and hyper-consumption in fashion is based on the exploitation of people and the impoverishment of the planet. At the same time, we believe it is important to highlight that the prospect of reducing volumes and redistributing value leaves questions unanswered.
The presence of trade unions at the negotiating table is not in itself a guarantee of change if there is no alignment on the development model. The experience of Pomigliano, where bargaining is defending the continuity of production in an industrial sector linked to arms manufacturing, shows how complex it is to reconcile the protection of employment with the real transformation of economic models and social impacts.
