Inputs for Manifesto from workshop for young people 24. April 2025, Czechia
The goal of the workshop was to engage young people to think and discuss prompts from the Manifesto. They were encouraged to read through the prompts, comment with thoughts and questions that they have regarding the content.
The group entailed young people, including 2 young workers for a garment company (design of products and office).

Theme: MAKE CORPORATIONS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE EXPLOITATION OF WORKERS
From discussion with participants:

Influencers and social media - quotes
• “They don’t really care who they target - I am a greenfluencer and they still approach me at least once a week for cooperation”
• Where the money flows, the algorithms flow - we should control the social media somehow
• “The social media are almost Orwell-ish”, and there are many extreme opininons
• Some “grey” or “illegal” solutions might be totally legitimate for this - what the groups Anonymnous do is quite inspiring
• “When I hear, that the brands influence whole governments, I feel really powerless, with this I really don’t know what I can do”

Status
• We should normalize new ways, like that changing things is cooler than to buy new ones
• Fashion is a status thing - once a girl at school is perceived as “fashion queen” she wants to stay that way
• Vintage is “sustainable”, but brands also use vintage and Y2K and similar styles for their marketing

Where is “my” role - reflections
• When I say something, I am automatically communist for others
• I am not just a consumer, I am also a citizen! It should be thought at primary schools already
• Individual solutions are not enough though! we need to make corporations accountable

Many people do not realize that “we cannot rely on companies to change their behaviour voluntarily”.
The process of laws: companies lobby to weaken them, the result is a nonsense. Capitalism is inherently undemocratic - if we want to make companies accountable, we need to democratize their structure
